Unlike therapy, which often focuses on healing the past, coaching is future-oriented and action-driven. It provides structure, accountability, and perspective, creating space to focus on what truly matters. Through thoughtful questions, supportive guidance, and practical strategies, coaching helps you let go of what no longer serves you and build healthier, more intentional habits. The result is greater clarity, energy, and confidence to move forward and create lasting change.

More About Melanie and ThoughtFully Coaching

Born in the Bronx and raised in Manhattan where I went to Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School. I spent my childhood and early teens as a competitive gymnast until leaving the sport in high school. I loved tumbling and vaulting, but the injuries and toxic scrutiny over the numbers on the scale fueled my decision to shed one identity and look to the future.  

I went to Occidental College in Southern California and dreamed of being a sports psychologist. My path, however, led me a different way. I worked as a nanny and a gymnastics coach, found my way into retail and became a merchandising manager for a well-known lingerie manufacturer.

One thing was consistent after leaving gymnastics - I gained weight. Throughout and after college, through family dysfunction, working long hours in retail, getting married, and having two children.

I became depressed, disappointed and had lost who I was.

My moment of catharsis happened when I saw my reflection in the glass partition at one of my daughter's gymnastics classes.  

I saw a woman I didn’t recognize and that I didn’t want to be. I was embarrassed and ashamed.

Soon after, I joined Weight Watchers. Over the course of 18 months, I lost 65 pounds. I signed up for adult tumbling classes. I dropped 6 sizes. I felt reborn. 

I was recruited by Weight Watchers and joined the staff. I was able to help people, people like me, find success and guide them to a better place, physically and emotionally.

In two decades at Weight Watchers, I helped thousands of people lose weight and keep it off. I facilitated workshops in person and virtually. But what I loved most was working as a one-on-one personal coach. 

I became a Certified Life Coach in 2022, and it is clear to me that my purpose in life is to help more people. I help my clients succeed at any goal by collaborating with them to form a specific plan and by guiding them as their accountability coach. 

It is my job to make sure you have created the right goals to get you to the places you want to be.
