Life Is Not One Size Fits All (So Why Do We Keep Pretending It Is?)

We know clothing isn’t one size fits all, so why do we expect life to be? Decluttering isn’t about becoming a minimalist. It’s about creating your version of enough—more clarity, less overwhelm, and a space that actually supports you.

We know this already. There is no such thing as one size fits all when it comes to clothing. Never has been, never will be. So why do we keep acting like life should be?

I witnessed this for over 20 years as a weight loss coach. There is no single perfect diet, no lone perfect workout, no magic formula that works for every body, every schedule, every season of life.

And as you probably knew I was going to say… decluttering is no different.

You Do Not Have to Be a Minimalist

Let’s just say it. Not everyone wants to be a minimalist. And that is okay. More than okay.

If you want to become a Minimalist, I can absolutely help you. But that is not the goal for everyone. It’s certainly not mine.

I love things.

I have fewer things than I did when we moved into our current home in 2016, and I have a LOT less than when I first started this decluttering journey in earnest. And I still have more than a lot of people I know.

And I am happy

What Changed (Because It Was Not Just the Stuff)

Here’s what did change.

I can find things. I can enjoy things, whether I’m using them or just looking at them. I don’t feel that same overwhelm, fear, and stress that used to sit in my chest.

I work better when my desk is clear. I sleep better when my bedroom is clear. I enjoy relaxing in my living room when it feels calm. And it’s easier to keep things that way when there’s simply less to manage.

This Is Where People Get It Twisted

Decluttering is not about having less for the sake of less. It is about having enough.

Enough space. Enough clarity. Enough calm. Enough room to breathe in your own life.

For some people, that looks like a capsule wardrobe and bare counters.

I’ll be honest—capsule wardrobes feel sterile to me. They don’t feel like me. But to someone else, they create a sense of calm, ease, and clarity that feels like perfection. And neither of us is wrong.

For others, it looks like full bookshelves, meaningful collections, and a home that feels layered and lived in. Both are valid.

So If You’ve Ever Thought “Melanie Isn’t Quite For Me…”

Think again.

If you’ve seen my videos, listened to the podcast, or read something I’ve written and thought, “Yeah… but that’s not really me…” this might be the part that is for you.

Because I am NOT here to turn you into someone else. I AM here to help you feel better in your space and in your life.

Let Me Ask You This

Do you have something, or a lot of somethings, that feel like they’re weighing you down? Is there visual noise in your home that makes it hard to focus or relax?

Or maybe the noise isn’t physical at all. Maybe it’s digital. Open tabs, unread emails, photos you’ll “get to … someday.” That counts too.

My Goal (And It Might Be Simpler Than You Think)

I don’t want you living in a blank space. I want you living in a space that supports you—your version of enough, your version of calm, your version of clarity.

No shame. No overhauls. Just progress.

Ready to Start?

If you’re feeling even the smallest pull toward creating a little more space in your life, I’d love to help.

I’ll be hosting a free live decluttering session in April where we focus on one ridiculously simple goal and actually make progress together. You can grab your spot HERE

Or, if you’re ready for something more personal, there’s some room on my calendar for a strategy session HERE

Because this is not about doing it perfectly. It’s about finding what works for you.
